Do Saved People Go to Heaven?
Before any of us reach our destiny of eternal life there must first be a resurrection of the dead. The traditional teaching of heaven immediately upon death makes the resurrection totally unnecessary. What does the Bible really teach about the state of the dead and immortality?
Biblical Facts:
What did Jesus say about man going to heaven?
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
Is King David, a man after God’s heart, in heaven?
Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens…
Is King David still in the grave?
Acts 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
Historical Facts:
Today’s concept of Heaven grew out of the doctrine of the immortal soul. If the soul is immortal, then it must have to reside some place until it is resurrected to eternal life. If the person has been wicked, then they must dwell in Hell forever, for they must be someplace. If they have been righteous, they rest in Heaven until the resurrection, at which time they will receive a spirit body and live forever with Christ in His Kingdom.
Wait a minute. If they are in Heaven, aren’t they already in the Kingdom with Christ? So, why wait until the resurrection?
Proverbs 16:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and stevah such as be of a contrite spirit.Psalm 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truthJer. 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
My point is this, You’ve been lied to about the Bible. Maybe this doesn’t bother you. The real question is this, Did Jesus Christ build His church on a foundation of lies?
You’ve got it in one. Co’undlt have put it better.
